Join us for a FREE hourlong conversation with DALLAS Star Award-recipient Steve James. The director of 2011 Dallas IFF Documentary Showcase film THE INTERRUPTERS and the Oscar Nominated HOOP DREAMS will discuss his films, his career and take questions from the audience.
James’ other films include NO CROSSOVER: THE STORY OF ALLEN IVERSON (2009), which tells the story of the controversial NBA star, and AT THE DEATH HOUSE DOOR (2008), an examination of how Texas wrongly executed Carlos DeLuna in 1989. Both films screened at the Festival. He has directed 10 other films, including PREFONTAIN and STEVIE, and he produced THE WAR TAPES, which won Best Documentary at Tribeca Film Festival in 2006.

As a screenwriter, Burns has written such movies as THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM and THE INFORMANT, and has worked with director Steven Soderbergh and actor Matt Damon. He also was a producer on Al Gore and Davis Guggenheim’s influential documentary, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH.
His screenplay for CONTAGION, again starring Matt Damon and directed by Soderbergh, is currently in post-production and is scheduled to be released this year. He is currently working on David Fincher’s adaptation of Jules Verne’s 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA. His short films include WHAT WE TAKE FROM EACH OTHER and DON’T I KNOW YOU.
It’s an event that aspiring screenwriters and longtime movie fans alike won’t want to miss.
